Vashon JV baseball beats Mount Tahoma 9-3

On Monday, March 15, the Vashon JV team played an exhibition game against Mount Tahoma. The Pirates broke into the scoring column early with a run in the first and never looked back.

On Monday, March 15, the Vashon JV team played an exhibition game against Mount Tahoma. The Pirates broke into the scoring column early with a run in the first and never looked back.

It was a hitting parade for the Pirates JV, and everyone had success. The game ended after five innings with Vashon winning 9-3. With all the Pirate base runners, the score could have easily been 15-3 or more.

Eric Powelson, Dustin Corthell and Kelly Sullivan pitched, with Joe Wald and Zach Drape catching.

On Wednesday, the Chimacum Cowboys defeated the JV team 13-3 in six innings.

Powelson pitched two innings with four strikeouts. Corthell pitched three innings and also had four strikeouts. Sullivan also pitched an inning. Wald went one for three with an RBI; Geoffrey Kraabel was one for two with two RBIs; Powelson was one for one with two walks; Sullivan was one for three, and Corthell was one for three.

The JV team traveled to Charles Wright on March 19 and lost 8-4 on some shaky two-out defense.

The starting pitcher for the Tarriers of Charles Wright went six strong innings (88 pitches thrown, five strikeouts). Some great at-bats came from Wald, Corthell and Sullivan.

Sam Fredrickson made his high school debut on the mound, going two and a third innings (54 pitches thrown, four strikeouts). He was relieved by Ben Reoux, who threw three and a third innings (45 pitches thrown, one run, one strikeout).
