Islewilde is this weekend

This weekend is the 16th annual Islewilde festival, taking place on

“Farmstad,” the land of the Dol-stad family, at 12108 S.W. 148th St.

Islewilde participants have been preparing all week, designing and building the homegrown and delightfully creative Islewilde pageant.

This year’s pageant, from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, will incorporate elements of circus, and artists from Dell Arte School of Physical Theater will be on hand.

Saturday’s all-day festivities will also include music by Correo Arreo, puppet shows and spontaneous performances.

Friday night at 6 p.m., Islewilders will create luminaries and lanterns before taking a lantern walk and enjoying an illuminated show.

The festival concludes Saturday with a “strike party” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when festivalgoers will clean up in an upbeat atmosphere, moving items into storage and cleaning up the Dolstad grounds.

Call Islewilde manager Doug Skove for more information at (206) 795-4344.
