A Vashon man has been charged with a sex crime after reportedly propositioning two girls riding their bikes in town.

Benjamin Allen Munday, 42, was charged last week with Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes and is currently in jail on $30,000 bail.

According to charging papers filed in King County Superior Court, Munday was riding a scooter through Vashon town on Wednesday, Aug. 14, when he pulled up to two girls, ages 12 and 13, who were riding their bikes and had stopped near Subway.

According to the girls, Munday tried to grab one of the girls’ hands, and after she pulled away, he asked if she wanted to ride on his scooter and if she wanted to have sex with him. When the girl said no, Munday reportedly replied, “What about your little friend?”

Munday then asked the other girl if she wanted to have sex with him. The girls then went into Subway, where a store owner called police.

Deputies who responded to the incident located Munday nearby and arrested him. According to charging papers, at the time Munday denied the girls’ allegations.

A King County prosecuting attorney’s request for bail notes Munday’s criminal history, which includes a conviction for fourth-degree domestic violence assault in 2009.

He is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment hearing tomorrow.
