Teresa Storch has a show on Thursday
Teresa Storch, a triple threat performer who plays guitar, sings and writes songs rooted in folk, jazz and blues, will perform a free show at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at Café Luna. Storch has toured nationally and released two EPs and a full-length album.
Thaddeus Spae plays at Café Luna
Songwriter, entertainer and multi-instrumentalist Thaddeus Spae will play a free show at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19. Spae’s show business spans four decades, and his act includes boisterous storytelling and heartfelt vocals, not to mention expressive playing on 12-string guitar, harmonica, high-hat, trombone, guitarron and anything else he can fit on the stage. Jim Page appears at the Bike
Jim Page, a singer and songwriter who has been on the Seattle scene for many years, will play a free show at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at Red Bicycle Bistro. Page is known for his timely, topical songs and riveting performance style. He has toured all over the world, and shared stages with the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris and Michelle Shocked.
Chamber music is a hit on Vashon
Vashon Chamber Music will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19 and 20, at the Blue Heron. The Friday show is sold out, but tickets for Saturday ($18 and $22) are available at the Blue Heron or www.brownpapertickets.com. The repertoire will include “Quartet for the End of Time” by Olivier Messiaen and a selection of French songs performed by soprano Jennifer Krikawa. Other musicians will include pianist Jeanine Jacobson, violinist Karin Choo, clarinetist Jennifer Nelson and cellist Rowena Hammill.
The Free Range Choir raises the roof
Vashon’s Free Range Folk Choir will present a concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at Vashon Methodist Church. The choir celebrates the ways that music from around the world can lift the spirit and cultivate community. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. A family-friendly night is on tap
Music that is fun for both kids and grownups will take place from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at Café Luna. The family-friendly evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. when Swing Set Music teachers Kim Thal and Gabriele Burgess offer a special Swing Set class complete with tongue twisters, sing-alongs, a puppet named Ms. Froggy and a genuine cake walk. At 7 p.m. Beach 3, a group of 12-year-old musicians who interpret Irish, Cape Breton, Old-Time, Scottish and Quebecois music, will take the stage. Band members Samantha Braman, Riley Calcagno and Leo Shannon have been friends since they were toddlers, and now they gig at festivals and venues in and out of Seattle. The Chocolatada, an annual extravaganza and fundraiser for The Backbone Campaign, will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Open Space for Arts & Communty.
