I believe the teacher is central to our kids’ experience in the classroom. But I also know as a former teacher that the infrastructure around students supports their learning. It enables teachers to use different methods of instruction and students to interact with each other and technology in ways that can bring their learning alive.
For me, it’s not a question of if the school improvements are made; it’s a question of when. If we wait, another generation of students doesn’t receive the benefit, and we will pay higher costs on a later bond issue due to inflation.
I believe the district, the community committee and the board worked hard to respond to the call for a leaner set of capital improvements. At $13 per month (on a $400,000 home) over our taxes last year, I believe it is an affordable expense for such a vital part of a healthy community. I intend to vote “yes” for the bond issue and hope you will too.
