James “Hill” Daughtry Jr., 65, died after a long illness on March 28, 2011 in his home in Pasco, Washington. He was born March 28, 1946 in Austin, Texas and never lost the feel for all things Texan. Over the years he lived in many states but spent most of his childhood in Glendale, CA and most of his last 25 years in Vashon, Longview, and Pasco, Washington.
Hill attacked everything in life with passion and focus, whether it be his early art pursuits, his plumbing business, his website development work, his work as a substance abuse counselor, and for the last few years, his dulcimer playing. He loved learning about the culture that the dulcimer grew out of, the art that was a part of each instrument, the music created with the dulcimer, and the group of wonderful friends he played with.
Hill was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Burkhard.
Hill is survived by one daughter, Rosalee Daughtry of Vashon, WA; his father and stepmother Jim and Dawn Daughtry of Pasco, WA; his sister Carol (John) Staaf of Coupeville, WA; and by many loving stepbrothers and sisters in California and Washington. He is also survived by his stepfather Paul Burkhard of Glendale, CA.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Pasco, WA at a later time. Please send an email to Carol at cstaaf@gmail.com if you wish to be notified once the day and time is set.
He will be missed by many and held in our hearts always.
