Phil Bomber was born on June 8th, 1931 to Harry H. Bomber and Katherine Tazzioli Bomber. He passed away peacefully at home on April 17th, 2015 with his family by his side. He was the third of four children and attended St. Georges Grade School and Cleveland High School in Seattle, Wa.
Phil Worked at Boeing for a time before enlisting in the U.S. Army (1951- 1954) and then returned to Boeing and worked there for the next 38 years. He retired in 1989.
Phil and Mary (Kneeland) were married in Seattle, Wa. in 1957 and had two children, Clay and Vanese. In 1963 Boeing transferred Phil to the Vertal Boeing Plant in Philadelphia, Pa. and then he was transferred back to the Boeing plant in 1966.
He and his family moved to Vashon in 1968 where he raised Charlois Cattle for a number of years.
Phil was a lifetime member of the Vashon Sportsmen’s Club where he served as club president 3 times. He liked to say that he won the “Triple Crown” at the Sportsman’s Club for being elected Club President, Sportsman of the Year, and winning the fishing derby all in one year. Phil was a lifetime fisherman, first in the rivers of the northwest and later from his boat on Puget Sound.
After he retired from Boeing, he donated his three piece suits to Granny’s Attic and bought a Kubota tractor business which he named “Phil’s Tractor Service”.
He was a member of the VFW and served as Commander for one year. He was also a member of the Vashon Eagles where he whole heartedly enjoyed helping raise money for the Vashon Food Bank.
Phil is survived by his wife Mary of 57 years. His daughter Vanese, 2 Grand Children, McKenzie and Aaron Bomber, his sister Jean Bomber, 2 brothers Louis and Henry Bomber, and many nieces and nephews.
Phil was preceded in death by his son Clay Bomber in 2011. A celebration of Life was held at the Vashon Eagles on April 25th, 2015.
