Kenneth L. Cooper

May 31, 1943 – July 24th 2012

Kenneth L. Cooper was born in Kirkland, Washington to Raymond and Ellen Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Vern, Dave, Doug and Shirley.

In 2003 Ken retired from Washington State Ferries; he began working as a ticket seller in 1965 and later moved into the engine department. While working at the Fauntleroy terminal he met his wife of 44 Years, Barbara (Brenno) Cooper.

As a young man and father Ken shared his passion for fishing, boating, camping and laughter with his family and many friends. Ken was a creative businessman and provider for his family. Through the years Ken’s business ventures ran the gambit from brush picking, recycling K2 barrels, running a second hand store (Treasure Barn), a traveling concession motorhome (Food Coop)at the north-end ferry dock, collection agency, and Vashon Taxi service which included delivering Al & Tony’s pizzas.

Survivors include his wife Barbara, children; Bradley Cooper, James and Kirsten Cooper, Kristina (Cooper) and Matt Radford, and Wendy Nichols Cooper; five grandchildren; Bradley, Nicholas, Cody, William, Hunter, Collin and siblings; Donna Hubbard, Vanessa Reice, Al Cooper, Roger Cooper and Richard Cooper.

Memorials or Remembrances may be made in his name to the Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Museum, 10105 SW Bank Rd, Vashon, Washington or the 9-11 Memorial at Vashon Island Fire and Rescue, PO Box 1150, Vashon, WA 98070.

A Celebration of Life Potluck will be held Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Vashon Sportsmen’s Club, 19720 Singer Rd SW, Vashon, Washington from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
