Dorothy Lyvile Krueger, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 17, 2010 in Bellingham. She was born June 21, 1941 in Balfour, ND to Nels and Maria (Dillerud) Huseby. Dorothy attended rural schools for her elementary education and attended Minot Teachers College. Dorothy married Otto Krueger on June 21, 1941. She taught prescool at Little Pilgrim School at the Fauntleroy Community Church in West Seattle for over 20 years. They moved to Vashon Island, WA where she was active in the Vashon Island Golf & Country Club, Vashon Senior Center and Childrens Orthopedic Guild. Her church was always important to her and she attended Vashon Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, cooking and baking. She traveled extensively for several years following her retirement from teaching. She loved hearing a good story or joke and also had quite a few to tell herself. She had a smile for everyone.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Otto in 1988; brothers Harry and Benjamin Huseby; and sisters Esther Nordrum and Palma Sahr. She is survived by her children Keith Krueger of Omaha, NE and Kathleen Krueger of Bellingham, WA and 5 grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Vashon Lutheran Church. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday March 25th at 1:00pm at The Vashon Lutheran Church.
