Mary Dunn “Boo” Gustafson passed away peacefully at Chandler House in Yakima on Sunday, September 4, 2011. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 2, 1920 to Harold and Edna Jamison. Mary was married to long-time Yakima surgeon, Jack R. “Gus” Gustafson, for 55 years. Jack and Mary Gustafson built a home on Maury Island in 1976.

The Gustafsons were active members of the Vashon Country Club and the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit. Mary Gustafson was a Master Gardener and a member of the Vashon Garden Club. The Gustafsons had 5 children, Hugh Gustafson of Vashon Island and Charlie Gustafson of Seattle who predeceased them, and Eric Gustafson of Yakima, Madie Gustafson of Maury Island/Denver CO, and Kathryn Gustafson of Vashon Island/Paris, as well as 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 3rd at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Yakima where the Gustafsons were founding members. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Village at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, www.yakimachildrensvillage.org.
