Mildred Louise Bettise, age 91, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on September 2, 2011 in Renton. She was born in Carthage, Missouri, May 28, 1920. There she met and fell in love with Walter Raymond Bettise whom she married in 1938 and spent 58 happy years. They relocated to Seattle where they both worked for Boeing. After living in Edmonds and Renton, their mutual love of water led them to live on a boat for 10 years before settling on Vashon Island where they spent their remaining years. Milly spent the last 10 years of her life traveling with her companion Don Tonkin. They enjoyed cruising the world and had many adventures together. Milly loved to read, spend time with her family, and volunteered at Granny’s Attic for nearly 30 years where she made some of her dearest friends. She called Granny’s her lifeline. Milly is survived by her daughter Cheryl Krieg (Jack); grandchildren, Lisa Portin (Mark), Jeff Krieg (Traci), Diana Beaulaurier (Paul), and Karyn Higgins (Dennis); great-grandchildren, Brittney, Christopher, Sarah, Jarid, Haley, Kyla, Emma and her sister Vivian Seidner of Elk City, Oklahoma. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011, 1:00pm at The Vashon Eagles Hall, 18134 Vashon Hwy S.W.
