Fred Jennings

Fred Jennings passed away December 4th 2010 at the Seattle Veterans Hospital. He was 88. He was born in Bridgeport, Nebraska April 25, 1922. At age of 17 he came to Vashon Island with his parents and family. That would be 71 years. He called Vashon Home. Fred has many family and friends who still reside on Vashon.

Fred had done a lot of different jobs but as a carpenter he helped build the newer Vashon High School, McMurry Jr. High and did many remodels of many beach houses.

Fred served our county in the Merchant Marine and Navy during WWII. He went to Egypt and Rio de Janeiro with the Merchant Marine. While in the Navy he saw duty on Okinawa. He was a Fireman First Class on the USS Arden (AM 340) Auk-class minesweeper and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign, Good Conduct and World War II Victory Medals.

Fred is famous for his laughter and making people laugh. He was a great musician and loved to sing and play his guitar. The thing he loved the most was sharing the Lord’s Word and Promises. Fred came to know the Lord in his mid twenties, as did the rest of the family, about that time.

We will celebrate his life with this memorial. If you would like to join us or share a story, please come.

Thank you to all the ladies at JG Commons who helped in preparing this gathering for Fred and us, his family and friends.
