Bernard (Mac) McGuirk
Bernard (Mac) McGuirk passed away at home with his family by his side on February 11, 2015.
Mac was born December 20, 1933, to John and Elma McGuirk of Wilmerding, Pennsylvania. He was the middle child of 10. He spent his early years working in the steel mills of Pittsburgh until he was drafted into the Army. He was stationed at Fort Lawton in Seattle, where he met the love of his life Jessie Stewart. Mac and Jessie were married for 56 years. In 1972 they decided to move to Vashon Island where they could raise their four children next to Puget Sound.
Mac worked for 32 years as a mail handler for the United States Postal Service in Seattle. When Mac was not commuting to work, he was spending time with his beloved family. During retirement Mac enjoyed taking care of his nine granddaughters. Mac attended all of their sporting events, class plays, graduations, and any other activity with which his family was involved. He also spent a great deal of time taking care of his daughter Susan before her death in 2004. Family was his most prized possession in life.
Mac was proceeded in death by his daughter, Susan. He is survived by his wife Jessie; daughter Kathy (Bob) Gibbons, their daughters Karisa and Randi; son Mike McGuirk and daughters Mallory, Mackenzie, and Libby; son Glen McGuirk and daughters Lyndee and Lawren and great-granddaughter Lilee. Also surviving are his Son in law Renard DuFresne, and daughters Heather and Katie. He is survived by three sisters Dene, Ellie, and Mary Lou and a brother Raymond, as well as numerous nieces and nephews both in Washington and Pennsylvania.

A service will be held Saturday, February 28, at 3:00 pm at the Vashon Sportsman’s Club. Please bring a dish to share.
