Fans of Ian Moore, a well-known singer, songwriter and guitarist who lives on Vashon, will be excited to hear he’ll be back on an Island stage, performing with the San Antonio band Buttercup at 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi.

Moore recently wrapped up production on a new album, “El Sonido Nuevo,” and as always, he has been busy touring.

Moore first came to national attention as a teenager in his hometown of Austin, Texas, where he was hailed as a guitar prodigy, winning widespread comparisons to guitar gods such as Stevie Ray Vaughan.

In the intervening years, he has matured into a musical artist recently described by the Tuscon Weekly as “one of the most soulful singer-songwriters around, and one of the most diverse.”

Moore’s show on Friday will be opened by Buttercup, and the band will also back Moore on his set. Buttercup’s Web site describes its music as “post-modern sound that crams their love of The Kinks, Neil Young and The Talking Heads into something more at home with fellow Texans Spoon, Chicago’s Wilco or New York’s Interpol.”

The show is for all ages until 11 p.m. After that, it can only be attended by those ages 21 and older. There is a $10 cover charge.
