Lumber and liquor don’t mix in one store | Letter to the Editor

I was very disappointed to read that Island Lumber is planning sales of alcoholic beverages. When our two grocery stores had the option just over a year ago to add hard liquor to wine and beer sales, they passed, and the small Vashon Liquor Store was able to continue in business. Now I understand that the Vashon IGA is going to add hard liquor. That is, at least, an appropriate place. In my opinion, a large lumber and hardware store is not an appropriate place.

Now I understand that the Vashon IGA is going to add hard liquor. That is, at least, an appropriate place. In my opinion, a large lumber and hardware store is not an appropriate place.

Since one only buys glasses once in a while, but new bottles from which to fill them frequently, I fail to understand the statement that having the liquor available with the glasses will enhance the Island Lumber shopping experience and make that store unique. I urge them to reconsider, and I also urge the community to continue its support of Vashon Liquor.
