Café Luna will be full of music this weekend, with two free concerts planned.

Ben Gilmer, who plays music described as “genuine Americana,” will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10.

Gilmer grew up in the mountains of southwestern Virginia. He said his songwriting reflects a sense of place deeply rooted in southern Appalachia — honest songs about hard times, family and love.

Gilmers’s debut album, “Juxtaposed,” features several of Virginia and West Virginia’s most well-known Americana and alt-country musicians and has already received great reviews.

Pianist Rolf Jones-Moore will return to the café for a free show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.

“He was here in July and the audience was captivated,” Café Luna owner Natalie Sheard said. “We’re thrilled to have him back.”

Jones-Moore, who plays orginal blues, jazz and boogie piano, has performed professionally for more than 25 years.
