Barefoot runner Ted McDonald, nicknamed “Barefoot Ted,” will offer a barefoot running clinic at 5 p.m. Friday, June 25, at the Vashon High School stadium.

Participants in the two-hour clinic will be led through the basics of barefoot running on various surfaces and terrains. They will master gentle, quiet, forefooted landings.

McDonald, best known as a central character in the bestselling book, “Born to Run,” presents a minimalist approach to running that sees barefoot runners increasing their mindfulness and presence while running.

The day after the clinic, McDonald will run the Vashon Ultra, a 50-kilometer trail run, barefoot.
