On Oct. 15 at 10:30 a.m., two gun shots were heard and two camo-clad men were dragging two deer in my neighbor’s yard on the Burton Peninsula approximately 100 yards from my house. The deer were shot at very close range and dragged to my neighbor’s driveway where the two men put it into a truck. The sheriff’s deputies told me the car was registered in Graham.
My neighbor said he gave his OK to the men when they asked if they could shoot deer in his yard.
A few years ago, two camo-clad men with guns walked past my door into my backyard to track a deer they had shot and wounded. They told me another Burton property owner gave them permission to shoot deer on his property. Those two men were from Skyway.
I advise people who park on Burton Drive and walk in Burton Acres or around the peninsula to consider wearing bright or reflective vests during hunting season.
