Islander Jonah Cole — sponsored by Vashon Events Youth Opener program — will open for the Van Redeker Band, the headline group playing at 8 p.m. Friday at the Red Bike.

The popular Van Redeker Band has a reputation of getting folks to dance with its dynamic interpretations of songs by some of music’s greatest songwriters, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Cream, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, as well as groove-infused originals by veteran songwriter Daryl Redeker.

Cole received his first guitar on his second birthday and has been playing ever since. Redeker is his teacher and Pete Welch, co-founder of Vashon Events, said, “Jonah’s a young one, but pretty dang talented – it will be great for him to get out in front of people and show us his stuff.

Youth musicians are paid by Vashon Events as our way to encourage more youth performances.

The free cover show is open to all-ages until 11 p.m., then 21 and older only.
