Breathing class

A Transformational Breath workshop will meet from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, July 23 and 30, at the Hanna Barn on Point Robinson Road.

Participants will learn a breathing technique for improving and increasing their energy level and sense of well-being. They will also learn how to correct constrictive breathing patterns and how transformational breathing can help them have a healthier lifestyle.

Dig class

Dig Floral & Garden will offer the class “Hearty, Hardy Fuchsias” at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26. The class is free with a $10 plant purchase.

Fuchsias can be the main event in the late summer garden; they’ll bloom until frost, and the varieties are endless.

The group will discuss their favorites in this workshop with tips on placement and pruning. Many unusual and hard-to-find varieties will be on hand.

VICC Bible School

Vashon Island Community Church will host Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 28 to Aug. 1. The theme will be “God’s Big Backyard.” There will be adventures, fun, games, crafts, snacks and music, and Wednesday will be the Big Backyard Splash.

The week is open to kids from 4 years old to sixth-grade.

Bible school, Teen Week

Youth from Maple Valley Presbyterian Church and their leaders are coming again to Vashon to lead Vacation Bible School (VBS) and Teen Week for a several churches Aug. 4 through 8.

The preschool program will be held at the Presbyterian Church from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Friday. Vashon teens will assist the adults who lead this program.

Vacation Bible School for first through sixth graders will be held at the Methodist Church from 9:30 to noon with a Friday evening potluck at the Lutheran Church. The cost per camper is $10 for the week and for an entire family is $15. Scholarships are available upon request.

Teen Week will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each Monday through Friday. Tuesday is an off-site activity night. Students entering grades six though 12 are welcome one evening or all five. There is no registration fee.

Teens dance

Dance camp for teens featuring swing and salsa will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 11 to 15, at Vashon Dance Academy.

This camp is for teens who already know a few steps and would like to learn more, have never danced swing or salsa but have a passion for dance or have taken swing or salsa classes before. They are all welcome to have a blast learning new steps taught by fun teachers who really know how to dance.

Salsa dancing is 2 to 3 p.m., and swing dancing is 3 to 5 p.m.

The camp is $75, just the salsa portion for $30 or just the swing portion for $50.

Registration is preferred by Aug. 1.
