The Pirates regular-season soccer road schedule ended with a loss at Orting’s new stadium and a win over Life Christian.

Orting has a brand new stadium, and they did right by it last Tuesday with a 4-2 win over Vashon. The Cardinals finished the week tied for first place with a 8-2 record. The Pirates are in fourth with a 5-4 record.

Orting took the lead quickly with a fifth-minute goal by Acacia Johnson. Johnson struck again in the 19th minute and almost single-handedly put the Pirates away, completing a hat trick in the 37th minute.

Teal Sigler put the Pirates on the scoreboard in the 32nd minute with a penalty kick after being taken down in the penalty area.

Audry Wilson sealed the Cardinals’ victory with a 56th-minute goal. Sigler made it two for the Pirates in the 76th minute, but it was too little and too late for Vashon. Cat Amick got the assist on the final goal.

Thursday was another story as the Pirates traveled to winless Life Christian. Coach Paul Beytebiere took several JV players on the trip to Washington Premier Field, and everyone who made the trip got significant playing time in the 7-0 win.

Sigler opened the scoring in the fifth minute with Bailey Protzeller getting the assist. Four minutes later Sigler passed to Amick for the second goal.

The third goal was a highlight film moment. Lena deGuzman sent a long pass to Carlyle Scott on the left wing. Scott crossed to the far post where Sigler leaped in the air and head-flicked the ball into the top corner of the net.

By the 38th minute coach Beytebiere had many of the reserves on the field, and Olivia Andrus converted another Scott cross for goal number four.

Scott opened the second half with a goal in the 43rd minute and closed it with another in the 76th minute. In between, in the 61st minute, deGuzman took a pass from Marya Munsey and powered up the middle for a score.

Goal keeper Sophie Nespor and the solid Pirate defense registered the second shutout of the year.

The Pirate JV preserved their unbeaten record with wins over Orting, 4-2, and Cascade Christian.

At Orting Michaela Beytebiere put the JV Pirates on the board in the second minute, and Samantha Clements followed just a minute later. The JV Cardinals evened it up with goals in the 12th minute by Rachel Peters and the 16th minute by Kim Loftus.

Clements put Vashon back on top in the 33rd minute. Megan Hackett scored an insurance goal in the 41st minute. Munsey, Protzeller and Taylor Hernandez were credited with assists.

At Cascade Christian, Vashon scorers were Hernandez (3), Clements (3), Katelyn Carter, Anna Osborne (PK), Marielee Storms, Paige Allison, Taylor Knowles and Kiely Bernheisel.

Assists were by Emma Lodes (2) and Hernandez (3). Knowles and Carter shared goal keeping duty.

The varsity Pirates hosted Chimacum yesterday. Cascade Christian visits tomorrow and Tuesday is a showdown with Charles Wright, with playoff seeding on the line.

Varsity games start at 6 p.m., JV at 4 p.m.
