About the Event: The Moisture Festival, an annual event that has taken place in Seattle since 2004, is branching out this year with satellite shows in five different venues. Luckily for Islanders, Open Space for Arts & Community is one of those locations.

This weekend, Open Space’s cavernous warehouse will be filled with a slate of Moisture Festival performers whose work might seem at home in the music halls of 19th-century England or America’s once-thriving vaudeville circuit.

On Friday, the lineup will include Dr. Calamari & Acrophilia (an acrobatic duo known for its work with Seattle’s Circus Contraption), Godfrey Daniels (known for his high-spirited clownishness), Nanda (an act that combines acrobatics, dance, juggling and kung-fu acro fighting), The Smirk Show (a duo of award-winning jugglers), Hat Trick (a German act), Bill Robinson (a noted comic who has opened for Bill Cosby, Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra) and aerial artists The Aerialistas and Aviatrix.

On Saturday, some of the same performers — Dr. Calamari & Acrophilia, Hat Trick, The Aerialistas and Aviatrix —will return, joined by a slate of different acts.

Vashon’s own Lelavision will bring its one-of-a-kind blend of music, sculpture and dance to the stage, and The Canote Brothers, twin brothers from Seattle, will offer old-time music.

Mr. Spin, an artist from Australia, is a vaudeville performer with a background in classical dance, and Iman Lizarazu, who will also perform on Sunday, describes herself as a “jester and a fool, in the best sense of the words.”

Another act, Anesidora, will bring magic to the mix on Sunday.

The Moisture Festival is also known for its burlesque performances, but those acts won’t be part of the Vashon festival, which is recommended for all ages. Part of the proceeds from Sunday’s matinee performance will go to support Vashon Youth & Family Services.
