Wine and song fill Café Luna 

Vashon Winery owner Ron Irvine will offer a wine tasting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, at Café Luna. He offers five wines for $10. Vashon Wine Club members receive a $1 discount. For more information, visit www.vashonwineclub.org. The next night at the café, salsa dance instruction by Assia Hamani will be offered free from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 14. The first 30 minutes of the evening will be devoted to learning the steps, and then students are on their own to dance the night away. 

Hear the banjo at the Bike 

Mark Growden, a San Francisco-based singer, composer and music educator, will perform a free all-ages show at Red Bicycle Bistro at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14. Growden, who plays the saxophone, accordion and banjo, was nominated for “Best Americana Artist” twice by the San Francisco Weekly Music Awards. His most recent album, “Lose Me in the Sand,” is a tribute to his own mountain roots in Pinetown, a California logging town, and the spirit of traditional American music. The show is for all ages until 11 p.m., and 21 and older after that.  

Something new at the ‘O’ 

“Burlesco Notturno,” a new event at the Open Space for Arts & Community, will premiere at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 21. The production will bring some of the Northwest’s most noted burlesque and performing artists together for what organizers are calling a “saucy, sexy soiree.” Hosted by Teatro Zinzanni star Kevin Kent, the show  will also feature burlesque stars Inga Ingenue and Miss Indigo Blue. Broadway veteran Rebecca Spencer will sing and aerialist Esther Edelman will perform with live accompaniment by renowned cellist Jami Sieber. The Seattle band The Zebra Kings will also play.
