Phyllis Montague Smith

She died peacefully at home in bed with her loving husband of 27 years, Bob, by her side.

Phyllis Montague Smith was born Sept 11, 1948, and returned to the Lord Feb 24, 2024, at the age of 75. She died peacefully at home in bed with her loving husband of 27 years, Bob, by her side. Phyllis was born in Lake Odessa, Michigan, a small farming town, where she grew up with her parents George and Ruth, and sisters Margie and Mary.

She graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Secondary Education. Phyllis moved to Vashon Island in 1979. She worked as the secretary of the Vashon United Methodist Church with Reverend Pamela Harris, and later worked with Rev. Harris at ArtFoto in Seattle. Phyllis met Bob Smith while commuting via ferry to Fauntleroy in 1996 and they were married in 1997. Phyllis loved to sing on stage, having a beautiful voice and an outgoing personality. She typically sang in churches and also enjoyed being in Drama Dock productions where she could sing and perform. Phyllis was also an avid volunteer and loved giving back to the community. She enjoyed making arts and crafts as a hobby.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Bob, two children Meridith and Jerod by a previous marriage, two grandchildren Kaelyn and Jordan and Bob’s two sons Corey and Casey.

A memorial service in memory of Phyllis Smith will be held at Bethel Church 14736 Bethel Lane SW, April 20th at 2:00. Donations can be made in her memory by mailing them to Bethel Church P.O. Box 725 Vashon, Wa 98070.
